How to supply artwork

Vector files

Whenever possible vector files should be supplied. Bitmap images do not scale and would need to be very large to compensate. Vector files on the other hand will scale to as large as necessary. For vector images the image size is not an issue. Bitmap formats include eps, psd, pdf.

Bitmap files

If you are sending bitmaps files, 300dpi should be considered the minimum resolution. Image quality degrades rapidly when scaling bitmap images. A general rule is that for every 100% increase in size, the resolution is cut in half. For instance a 4 foot X 4 foot image at 300dpi will become 150dpi when size is increased to 8 foot X 8 foot. Image will appear pixelated. If you are sending a bitmap file, 30% of the final production size at 300dpi is the recommended minimum size and scale. More never hurts. Properly scaled bitmap images with sufficient resolution could be between 40 and 150 megabytes (filesize). Bitmap formats include jpg, gif, tiff and bmp.

Pantone colours

Pantone Matching System is used to 'colour match' specific colours. All PMS colors are not 100% reproducible utilizing CMYK production. All colour specifications will be matched to the closest four colour CMYK colour. Orders received without colour specifications will be produced using the CMYK values contained in the digital file. If you require to match specific PMS colour codes, please include all the details with your artwork.

Using web images in artwork

Images copied from the web generally will not work. Web page images typically have a maximum resolution of 72dpi and will not scale well. Original image files are required.

Convert text to curves

Please always convert text to curves. This eliminates all font issues such as defaulting (we may not have your font) or drop-outs. Never send bitmap text as this eliminates edit capabilities.
