Vinyl banners - font tips

Serif or non-serif

Sans-serif font types are the best option where your audience will be viewing your vinyl banner from a distance. Serif types fonts can sometimes be harder to read. Serif fonts can be used for sub-text but headline text is usually more effective in sans-serif type font. Classic English type fonts are best restricted to use on banners where the sudience will be able to stand and read the banner from a very short distance e.g. 10 to 12 feet.In the community hall or at the village fete, these fonts can be used to good effect to produce great looking text but they can prove too illegible for passing traffic when used elsewhere.

Too many fonts

Try not to use too many different fonts or font styles (e.g. italic, bold etc.).

How much margin to leave if any

Having all the text on the vinyl banner in upper case can also sometimes make it difficult to read at a distance. Instead use upper case for the first letter of each word or maybe for a key word.
